From Dean Doug Anderson
Within weeks of my arriving at the College of Business a new vision of where we wanted to go was forming. As I talked with faculty, students, alumni and friends, all seemed to agree that it was time to take the College of Business to a new level. It is exciting to see several vital elements coming together at the College of Business. The time is right. We are ready to elevate our game. The key ingredient will be the support we can get from alumni and friends at this crucial time. We need your help.
We are focusing on three areas:
- Ethical Leadership
- Entrepreneurship
- Global vision
Our role is to be a career accelerator for our students and by so doing we will become an engine of economic growth for Utah and the nation.
Graduates of the USU College of Business have accomplished some amazing things. Virtually all of the alumni with whom I have spoken look back with pride and gratitude for the education they received here. As a proud alumnus of USU's Economics Department, I feel that same sense of loyalty and debt of gratitude. That's why I accepted President Stan Albrecht's invitation to return to Logan as Dean of the College of Business. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to keep innovating and improving our college, so that our students today will have even greater educational opportunities than we had during our time at Utah State.
“Our role is to be a career accelerator for our students and by so doing we will become an engine of economic growth for Utah and the nation.”
We strengthen the reputation of our school by effectively investing in the students who are here today. They deserve that support and I know that there are many of our friends and alumni willing to give it. We need your help to take these next vital steps.
College Campaign Goals: $13 Million
We need to raise $13 million to begin to make the transformation of the College of Business a reality. We will invest those funds in three vital areas.
Faculty
We have excellent professors who have been building the reputation that we now enjoy one graduate at a time. We need to keep those outstanding educators. We need their leadership. We will have the opportunity to hire new professors and they must share our vision of what can be done. We must invest in our valued educators if we are to better prepare our students. With your help we can do it.
Scholarships
Scholarships allow students to focus more effectively on their education while they are here. Alumni and friends can help us ensure that more scholarships based on need and more scholarships based on merit are available. These scholarships attract students who contribute to the learning experience for everyone. Scholarships are the lifeblood of the university and the addition of new scholarships will be an integral part of our transformation.
Facililties
Our need to renovate and expand is long overdue. When it comes to learning, facilities do make a difference. As we raise our sights, our facilities must reflect that new vision. We will be renovating the bottom three floors of the George S. Eccles building, which include the classrooms and computer labs where our students spend much of their time. We are also beginning the ground work that will lead to the expansion of our facilities.
How you can make a difference
It is only when we combine the focus, ambition, passion and ideas with the resources we need to make things happen that we can elevate our game. It is the contributions of each of us that shape what the College of Business is now and what it can become. I urge you to consider what role the College of Business has played in your life. I see and interact daily with the students who have entrusted us at the College of Business with this crucial step of their education. I can tell you that they are worth the investment. I hope you will join with me in transforming the College of Business and taking it to a new level.
With your help, we can do it!
