About the Provost
Raymond T. Coward has served as Utah State's provost, since January 2, 2006. Coward began his career as an 8th grade biology teacher in Princeton, New Jersey. Prior to coming to Utah State he was dean of the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University. Prior to being at Penn State he was professor and dean of the School of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire. He has served as director of the Institute for Gerontology at the University of Florida and as a faculty member in the university's College of Medicine; as professor of social work and director of the social work program at the University of Vermont; and as a faculty member and director of research for the Child Development Laboratories at Purdue University. Dr. Coward received his bachelor's and master's degree from the College of New Jersey, as well as a second master's degree in social work from McGill University and his doctorate in child development and family studies from Purdue University.
